Frank J. Ondrushek, Jr. passed away peacefully on March 5, 2023 with family by his side.
He was born in Shelton, CT, to the late Frank J. and Vlasta Ondrushek. He was raised in Trenton and Hamilton, NJ, attending local schools and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1955. Upon graduation, he joined the Marine Corps Reserves attending basic training in Camp Lejune, NC.
His professional masonry career began in 1958, as an apprentice sponsored by the Bricklayers, Masons & Plasterers of Mount Holly Local #47. He transitioned from the union to start a business with his brother-in-law, Blair McClure, establishing M & O Construction. Frank later rejoined the masonry union workforce and retired from BAC Local #5.

Frank was very active during his many years as a member at the Fin, Fur & Feather Club. Frank served as President of the club in 1986 and 1987. He was always ready to jump in and help on projects around the club. Frank always had time for the young hunters, you could see the enjoyment it brought to him. He was a best friend to all. We will miss your cheerfulness and good friendship. Rest assured we will tell many of your stories over a manhattan.
Here are some tributes from the heart written about Frank by the FFF members;
"If the Fin Fur Feather had a Hall Of Fame, Frank would certainly be in it. I met Frank over 40 years ago, when I was a teenager. I'm 59 now and Frank still called me "kid". I feel very fortunate to have known Frank for so long, I will miss him very much."
"Ever since I was a young hunter to be, Frank would share his great wisdom with me. I could just sit and listen to his stories all day long and never tire! Thank you frank for all you shared with me! I'll miss talking to you for sure!"
"One of the best, many great memories and life lessons I learned from Frank "O" down at the FF&F...."
"Frank always encouraged me and other members to do our best for the good of the club. Frank was a great member and good friend to all. He will be deeply missed and always remembered."
"I have wonderful memories of the times I shared with Frank. I'm so glad you were able to attend my birthday, that was very special to me. I'll will surely miss Frank."
"He was like a best friend to all."
"From the Halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli................. Rest in Peace Hero"
Here are some tributes from others:
We were deeply sadden to hear of "Big" Frank's passing. I met Frank over 30 yrs ago. He was like a second Dad to me. Always had an open door, great conversation and always offered "A little taste" You may be gone, but we have a lot of memories so make sure you are not forgotten.
Our love goes with you Uncle Frank! We have so many great memories of you over the years and these we will always cherish when we think back on the “good” times!
So sorry to see that Frank has passed.
Condolences and Prayers for Fran and the family.
We have so many memories of our days at the New Egypt Elks.
Frank will be remembered fondly.
My condolences to the entire Ondrushek family. I only met Mr. Ondrushek a couple of times but he made a big impression on me with his inherent kindness, especially the first time we met. I had fallen off my bicycle on West Millstream Road (back when I was just a kid) and had gotten fairly badly hurt. There were no cell phones back then, so I had no way of telling my parents where I was or that I maybe needed stitches. A total stranger came rolling up in his green truck and asked if he could give me a lift. He loaded me and my busted up bike into his truck and delivered me safely to my parents. That stranger was Mr. Ondrushek. My parents and I are forever grateful for his kindness! The world is a sadder place without Mr. Ondrushek in it. Lots of love to everyone in the family.
My condolences to Chip and Lisa and all the family. I met Frank several times over the years at the school and other people's homes and always enjoyed seeing him.
Godspeed, Frank.
Semper Fi Marine, Until we meet again in Valhalla.
Our deep condolences to Fran Chip and Lisa Frank was so active for years in the town of New Egypt Thanks Frank rest in peace.
Frank, or Mr. O as I called him, was an influential person to me in my mid-late teens. I couldn’t ask for a better role model during a formative time in my life. He allowed me to learn to mix mud and work for him as a laborer with Chip during some of his side jobs. The pay was certainly fair but the lessons learned about what it took to be a man and a great father were invaluable to me. He always welcomed us knuckleheads into his home and accepted us as family. For that I am forever grateful. Rest easy Mr. O.
Here's some pictures to remember the fun times with Frank!
